Applications accepted for annual ‘Remembering Columbia’ Memorial Scholarship

HEMPHILL, TX – The Patricia Huffman Smith NASA Museum is now accepting applications for its 2025 ‘Remembering Columbia’ Memorial Scholarship, awarded to students pursuing a college degree in a STEAM field.

As part of its mission, ‘Friends of the Museum’ established this annual program to recognize an incoming college freshman student who has demonstrated leadership and good character while in high school and has committed to pursuing a two or four-year college degree in a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts or Mathematics) field.

In order to be considered, applicants must meet the following criteria: will graduate from a public or private high school or were home schooled; have been accepted by or intend to enroll as a full-time student at an accredited trade school, college, or university for the Summer or Fall 2025 semesters; and complete a short application and essay. Applications must be received by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2025. The preferred method to submit materials is by emailing columbiamuseum@yahoo.com. Materials can also be mailed to the attention of: “Scholarship Committee”; 375 Sabine Street, Unit B; Hemphill, Texas 75948.

At least one winning applicant will receive a $500 scholarship. Winner(s) will be announced publicly at a later date.
