HEMPHILL, TX – The Patricia Huffman Smith NASA Museum is pleased to announce Emma Williams and Braeden Jordan of Hemphill ISD and Elizabeth Smith of West Sabine ISD as the recipients of its 2025 ‘Remembering Columbia’ Memorial Scholarship.
On Friday, May 2, members of the ‘Remembering Columbia’ Museum board and retired NASA international spaceflight training manager Debbie Trainor presented each student with a $500 stipend to be applied to their future education.
The recipients and their families were special guests at the ‘Night At The Museum’ event.
As part of its mission, ‘Friends of the Museum’ established this annual scholarship program to recognize an incoming college freshman student who has demonstrated leadership and good character while in high school and has committed to pursuing a two or four-year college degree in a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts or Mathematics) field. Applicants must submit an application that includes a biographical narrative and essay.
Information about the 2026 application period will be announced early next year.
